“Ecology Day: What is the importance of the biodiversity in caves and karst”
On September 14th, at 10h30, in the Show Caves of Mira d’Aire, located in the heart of Portugal we will celebrate the Ecology Day, sharing its meaning. We will talk about subterranean ecosystems under an ecological perspective; at bats, as the iconic inhabitants of caves; at the importance of caves and karst as paleoecological arquives; about the role of show caves in environmental sustainability; and about the relevance of caves and karst biodiversity for Biology.
This event is organised by the Center for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes (cE3c), Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, with the support of EEF and SPECO, and in collaboration with the partners of the “Cave Animal of the Year 2021 – Portugal”.

THIRD COFFEE WITH SBSCy – Fires in Mediterranean Ecosystems
An online event for the members of the Society of Biological Sciences in Cyprus (SBSCy), open also to other invited colleagues, that includes two short lectures from specialists on the role of fire in Mediterranean Type Ecosystems, and open discussion next. This is the 3rd such event of SBSCy, and is dedicated to Ecology Day.
